Enforcement Policy :: REDROUTE’S OBLIGATIONS
- Redroute will erect warning signs in prominent positions throughout the locale
- Core signs will clearly state that unauthorised parking will result in the vehicle being immobilised and subject to Redroute’s removal programme. A fee as indicated on the warning signs will be applicable to the offender
- Redroute will provide warning notices which will be attached to the offending vehicle notifying the driver that their vehicle has been immobilised and the method of obtaining release
- Redroute will not, under any circumstances, immobilise liveried vehicles being used for official fire, police or ambulance purposes. Any other exemptions must be agreed in writing on an individual contract basis

METHODS OF CONTROL
- Unauthorised, unlawfully parked vehicles or vehicles not prominently displaying a valid permit in conjunction with an up-to-date road fund licence (tax disc) will be immobilised by the fitting of a wheel clamp by an employee or agent of the company
- In cases where patron parking is available the patron is required to go directly to the premises and must not leave the buildings boundary to qualify for parking entitlement. Failure to comply will result in the vehicle being immobilised and full fees applicable
- In cases where visitor parking is available a period of 10 minutes will be allowed on site for the visitor to obtain a permit. The visitor is required to display their vehicle’s hazard warning lights and must not breach the parking regulations to qualify for entitlement. Failure to comply will result in the vehicle being immobilised and full fees applicable
- All vehicles entering on the land are required by law to be roadworthy, taxed and insured
NON DISCRIMINATORY POLICIES
Redroute will enforce parking regulations fairly, lawfully and without discrimination.
Enforcement will take place between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 on a daily basis and times outside of these hours as and when necessary.
It is our policy to enforce parking regulations on every day of the year, and for the purposes of enforcement, Bank Holidays are treated as a Monday, or, in the case of Good Friday, a Friday.
RISK ASSESSMENT
- in cases where the fee cannot be met at the vehicle should a person require our help we will offer to assist by calling a taxi if that person states that they are physically unable to journey without transport. If necessary our Patrol Offices will loan the fare
THE BLUE BADGE SCHEME
It is an offence to display a badge when driving a motor vehicle on a road unless it was issued and displayed in accordance with regulations (Section 21(4B) of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970). Offenders can be prosecuted in a Magistrates Court with a maximum penalty of £1,000 .
Misuse of the badge itself by a non-disabled person is an offence under Section 117 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Section 35(6) of the Road Traffic Act 1991. The maximum fine on conviction is £1,000 and this applies in addition to whatever penalty may be imposed for the associated parking offence
COMPLAINTS AND COMMENDATIONS
Redroute will deal with any complaints and commendations within a period of 21 working days of receipt of their communiqué
WHO CAN COMPLAIN
Anyone who receives a service from us or is affected by one of our decisions can make a complaint if:
- we failed to do something we should have done
- we did something wrong or to a poor standard
- you were treated unfairly
HOW DO I MAKE A COMPLAINT
Complaints will not be dealt with over the telephone and must be in writing to which the correspondent will receive a reply. A complainant may complain with or via a representative e.g. a relation, Solicitor, Citizens Advice Bureaus or Councillor.
APPEALS
Every case will be investigated on its own merit. It is standard practice to request proof of circumstances wherever possible.
If a complaint is related to having paid a levy the motorist must enclose a copy of the receipt. Failure to comply may result in no consideration.
If a challenge to a clamping fine is received and does not constitute grounds for waiving the charge then a formal Notice of Rejection of Representation will be issued to the appellant.
UNACCEPTABLE GROUNDS FOR APPEAL
- I could not find anywhere else to park
- I only stopped for a minute or two
- I forgot my permit
- My permit must have fallen on the floor when I shut the door
VEHICLE REMOVAL SERVICE
We can offer a vehicle removal service if a vehicle is causing an obstruction or abandoned. Every case will be assessed on its merit.
